Let's Talk About Your Skin.
Do you have pigmentation, age spots, uneven tone & texture, wrinkles, fine lines, saggy areas? Most of us do! But did you know that protecting your skin from UV & replenishing it after exposure with antioxidant ingredients can help keep you looking younger for longer & is also good for health & wellbeing?
Moderate exposure to summer sunshine can help us feel so much better. Serotonin levels are boosted, we feel more alive & calmer. Seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D) recedes. Vitamin D levels rise, benefiting muscles, brain & blood pressure. After a seaside holiday, some people even report an improvement in skin conditions such as acne, eczema or psoriasis.
But as we all know, too much Ultra Violet (UV) light damages our skin cells, causing all manner of issues including dry patches, wrinkles, pigmentation & worse. UVA light penetrates deeply, causing skin damage. UVB causes sunburn. They can both lead to disease.
We are exposed to UV light from the sun even on cloudy days. If the UV reaching us is moderate or higher & we are outside for more than about 20 minutes, we are probably at risk. And don't get me started on sunbeds! Read on to find out how to replenish your skin & how to figure out when you need to worry about UV rays.
Repair & Replenish
If you've had the misfortune to get sunburnt, or you've spent a lot of time outside, your skin may be in need of some TLC. With sunburn, reach for the Aloe Vera to help keep your skin cool & hydrated. If your skin simply feels parched, dry, or out of balance, it's time to give it some replenishement. Try a rich, moisturising cream, such as OV naturals Organic Face Cream which contains:
A traditional skincare remedy known for its soothing properties, Aloe Vera helps alleviate dryness & calms sensitive skin. Hydrating, soothing, conditioning & nourishing. Great as an after-sun to cool & moisturise.
Natural Vitamin E
A powerful natural anti-oxidant which helps combat the negative effects of free radicals on the skin. Helps protect from pollution & sun damage. Conditions & revitalises to help the skin appear younger.
Naturally occurring in abundance in the plant kingdom, Glycerin has superb skin protecting properties, helping to lock in water & help prevent TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss). Keeps skin soft, supple & smooth.
If you need extra softening, to balance & repair, try an OV naturals Facial oil or Body Oil. As you've heard me say many times, these are not greasy as they are "dry" oils, so they sink in super-fast, giving you a beautiful glow & are packed with clinically-proven ingredients. For example, our light & gentle
Serene Facial Oil contains among its ingredients Organic Jojoba which improves the skin's surface texture & equilibrium, miraculous Moroccan Argan to soften wrinkles & fine lines & improve elasticity, Organic French Lavender to fight spots & breakouts & antioxidant Vitamin E to reduce inflammation & fight oxidative stress.
You can see our whole range of Face & Body products here, all of which are designed to put the goodness back into your skin as well as to protect in the long-term. Just remember, always add a sun block on top if you are going to be outside for any length of time.
